custom built for Metrolink Virtual route by Chris Lindop [UKTSID:smudge5609] Built in 3D Canvas, using prototype works drawings, the Metrolink LRV is a fairly accurate virtual representation of the real thing. It consists of three main parts - a driving unit, articulated centre piece and trailer unit. Building on the foundations of the version 1.0 model, available on uktrainsim.com since June 2004, version 2.0 now contains many new features. The model now features a 360 degree passenger view, photo realistic cab and sound set. For users with the MSTS Bin Patch installed, there is also an alternative cab available for use within tunnels and at night time. The available MSTS Metrolink LRV fleet list is as follows…
Since version 1.0, the tram’s textures have been revamped to include subtle weathering and interchangeable advertisement hoarding/tram numbering. The tram fleet also includes the all over advertising tram 1015 (Back on Track), used to publicise Metrolink’s plans to extend. The trams are controlled in the virtual world by using the “D” and “A” keys. The D key accelerates the tram, whilst the A key slows and applies the brakes. Unlike the prototype, the cab view has a “heads up” display, giving access to forward/reverse controls, tram lighting and door control. You will also find indicators for Penalty Application and Overspeed. Although intended for use as a Pantograph in the sim, the “P” key will open and close the doors on the Metrolink vehicle. If you look closely, you will note that the driver’s rear view mirror will also swing out! Version 2.0 now contains a realistic sound set and where possible, this was recorded from the real thing! Both Segregated and Non-Segregated horns are included. These can be accessed using the “Space Bar” and “B” Key. |
